Now the brothers are opening a second Cereal Killers café in Camden - and have plans to expand across the country and even the world.

Adrian Sington, MD of Kruger Cowne Rights, which represents the café, told Marketing Week magazine that the brothers are now looking to expand throughout the UK and have had franchise interest from several different countries.

This is because cereal is “in the heart of people all over the world,” according to Mr Sington. He says that their best-selling cereal comes from Korea, and apparently the restaurant has proved so popular that it is filled with customers from 10am to 10pm.

This is in contrast with the public reaction before it first opened, when it was accused of extortionate pricing, being ‘pretentious’, and an example of “elite-level Shoreditch bellwhiffery”. Most cruelly of all, one London24 commenter said: “Their beards aren’t very good”.

Now, six weeks after opening, the Keery twins have sold over 20,000 bowls of cereal and are negotiating a publishing deal for a cookbook which should be released within the next six months.

Many people have questioned why anyone would want to go out to eat a bowl of cereal that they could have much more cheaply at home. The secret, according to Mr Sington? “It’s not about selling the product, it’s about selling the experience that goes with it,” he says.

Ah, the great figures of the ancient Roman world. Where would they fit into modern Britain?

Where Pliny the Younger takes an upbeat view of the empire, Tacitus is cynical, mordant. He is definitely a glass-half-empty sort.

Channel Four recently sent a reporter to cover the story of the Cereal Killer Café in Shoreditch – and he generally monstered the poor entrepreneurs. He was scathing about charging £2.50 minimum for a bowl of cereal; he mocked the proprietors – a gentle pair of bearded hipsters – for their pretensions to gentrify the area, and suggested that local people would not be able to eat there. He put the boot in, and I am not at all sure he was right to do so.

We should be hailing anyone who starts a business in this country; we should acclaim them for overcoming all the obstacles that government puts in their path. We don’t need taxpayer-funded journalists endlessly bashing the wealth-creators of this country, and sometimes we need to be a little less cynical and a bit more encouraging.

Tacitean scorn is all very well; but there are times when we should be boosting our enterprise culture. When someone has come up with a wacky business proposition that will create jobs and bring in tax revenue and boost the neighbourhood – send Pliny to cover it.

I'd be fucked if I went in there. Like an alcy from a 50's film sitting in the bar and telling the barman to leave the bottle. I'd end up paying £50 for a few bowls of crunchy nuts.

They will make a killing. They have had so much publicity. They were on Good Morning,BBC news I don't know who they know but they must have some pretty powerful connections.

It'll do well off the publicity for a short while but these hipster fads don't last long do they. It'll be a gourmet jelly bean bar by this time next year.

I dont think anybody would have a problem with this if it wasn't for the beardy irish shitcunt running the gaff. For that reason I am more than ok with the grief they're getting. And what sort of cunt goes out and has fucking cereal anyway?
